Study
There were two topics in the centre of his interest at that time; the landscapes and the figures, and the combination of these two.
Most of the works of art made in 1907-1908 have been destroyed or disappeared throughout the years. More of them remained from the 1910's. In the majority of these watercolour paintings a tree, a group of trees, a colourful flower, a blooming tree or a couple of sunflowers is in the centre of the composition. There are some compositions though, where a human figure is in the centre.
This watercolour painting was painted around 1916. The figures become monumental because the painter divides the picture into earth and sky. This is not only a beautiful work of art, but also it is full of philosophical questions and answers like the majority of János Mattis Teutsch' art.
