He arrived in Nagybánya in 1905, to study with István Réti and Károly Ferenczy. He travelled to Rome with Réti in 1906, where he attended the independent school of the Instituto di Belle Arti at first, and then trained at the American Academy. He spent nearly a year in Paris in 1909. He became a member of the Nagybánya Painters Society in 1922.
