He studied at the Budapest Model School of Drawing, with Simon Hollósy in Munich between 1894 and 1895, and then at the Julian Academy in Paris. As early as the summer of 1897 he was at work in Nagybánya, the youngest member of the artist colony. He took part in the first group exhibition of the Nagybánya artists. He later settled in Szeged.
