Kontuly, Béla

Miskolc, 1904 - 1983, Budapest

After studies in the Art Academy of Prague, he studied with Istán Réti in Budapest. In 1928-1930 he was on scholarship to Rome. His style was shaped by the New Objectivity of Novecento both on the canvas and in mural painting. He decorated several churches and ecclesiastic buildings, while, in small-scale genres, his portraits deserve attention.
