After his studies in the Pattern Drawing School in 1875, and at the Munich Academy between 1878 and 1882. He established his independent school in Munich in 1886, and supervised in Nagybánya from 1896 to 1901. He was a teacher with a great influence upon pupils, many of whom followed him after he broke with Nagybánya, first to Fonyód (1902), then to Vajdahunyad (1903) and finally to Técső; during which time his Munich school was also in operation.
