Ferenc Újházy taught him to draw, followed up by work at a blue-paint factory in Budapest. He travelled to Paris in 1898, where he attended Colorassi's evening classes for a while. He worked in Alfonz Mucha's workshop for two years. He showed his work at the Paris Salon on numerous occasions. He returned to Hungary in 1902. He painted in Adolf Fényes's studio in Szolnok through two summers, and then worked with Grünwald Iványi in the Kecskemét artists colony. He also did posters, caricatures and stage sets. He was the stage designer for the Operetta Theatre for fifteen years.
