Boldizsár, István
1897 - 1984
István Boldizsár was the student of István Réti at the Academy of Fine Arts in 1917-18. His master was Béla Iványi Grünwald in Kecskemét, and János Thorma in Nagybánya. He studied in Munich in 1920-23 with the sponsorship of the famous collector, Marcell Nemes. He was the last member of the third generation of the Nagybánya artist's colony, and being so he was the connecting link between the Nagybánya and the post-Nagybánya school. Afterwards the Lake Balaton and the Great Plain became visual motivation in his art. He taught at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts between 1941-49.
